Kotelo is a project framework that enables to development of new subprojects now and then, whenever circumstances enable it. The main focus point of the Kotelo project framework is on tinkering with sustainable materials, and by that, trying to familiarise myself as well as other people with more sustainable materials through various creative and collaborative practices.
The first Kotelo project – Kotelo I – was put into practice in The Demolition Art House Pinni47 in Tampere, in 2023. The project was done partly together with Anni Vilkko. Especially during the planning phase, a lot of work was done together. The Kotelo I was composed of two parts: 1) material exploration and 2) a collaborative workshop. Out of these two parts, a two-week exhibition was built.
The Kotelo I focused on material exploration and workshops. It involved the development of a wide range of biobased materials. In workshops, a collaborative artwork during an exhibition at the Demolition Art House was made from eggshell-materials. There were about 175 visitors who created eggshell crafts, and that way became part of the exhibition’s collaborative artwork. The project showcased the possibilities of sustainable materials and engaged visitors in the creative process.
